OHIO, United States, November 19, 2009 - An authentic Italian pizza company headquartered in the US state of Ohio has started rolling out its Caribbean operations starting with the opening of a store in the Bahamas. But it's just one of six planned for the country and 31 that the company will operate throughout the Caribbean.

The company did not say which other Caribbean islands it would be entering, but said it would employ 20 to 25 locals of each country it operates.

"Marco's expansion into the Caribbean demonstrates our aggressive growth strategy and success despite the challenging economic climate," said Marco's Pizza CEO Jack Butorac.

Brothers and franchise veterans Chris and Terry Tsavoussis are Marco's area representatives for the new territory. They have several years of franchise experience with companies such as Domino's Pizza, Dairy Queen, Dunkin' Donuts and Wendy's.

"The Tsavoussis brothers have proven themselves to be among the best restaurant operators worldwide through their work with Wendy's and other chains. They understand Marco's commitment to product quality and their skills and professionalism will be assets to the company," Butorac added.

Marco's operates more than 190 stores in 17 US states and now the Bahamas. The long-term plan is to open 880 new stores.

The company was founded in 1978 by Pasquale Giammarco and is ranked one of the 25 largest pizza chains in the US by PMQ's Pizza Magazine and the top franchise in financial strength by AllBusiness.
