BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, June 11, 2008 - It's that time again, when Barbados eagerly competes in the annual Chelsea Flower Show in London.  British Airways has played an integral part in Barbados' success over the years, as the airline has sponsored the freight of the many boxes of exotic flowers that have made the trek to London, every year for the last 21 years.

This year, Barbados is the proud recipient of the Silver Gilt award. This is one more award to add to their list of achievements; as they have won 14 golds and 7 silvers in the 21 years that they have competed.

District Manager for Barbados and St. Lucia, Mr. Nigel Blackett commented on British Airways involvement. "British Airways has always been committed to promoting the beauty of the islands.  This initiative enables BA to support  local communities by ensuring the exotic flowers of the Caribbean can be showcased to the rest of the world."

Barbados' theme this year was sailing, and the display was made up of two sails as a backdrop to heliconias, anthuriums, orchids, ginger lilies, foliage and other shrubs.
