KINGSTON, Jamaica, October 13, 2008 - Jamaica's Finance Minister Audley Shaw is out of hospital but still off the job, after Prime Minister Bruce Golding ordered him on leave.

Mr Shaw, 56, was released from the University Hospital last Friday. He had been admitted last Wednesday when he fell ill during a meeting with Mr Golding and other Cabinet members. He underwent a number of tests during his three days in hospital, but information about his sickness has still not been released.

The Finance Minister had been scheduled to meet with officials of the Inter American Development Bank and the World Bank in Washington.

A statement from the Ministry of Information indicated that Mr Shaw had been given a clean bill of health by doctors after the medical examinations.

"They advised the Minister, however, to take some rest and to phase his return to work," it said.
