FlyMontserrat announced that it had received government approval for a daily scheduled flight service between the two countries.

BRADES, Montserrat, November 13, 2009 - A new air link between Montserrat and Antigua will be launched next month.

FlyMontserrat yesterday announced that it had received government approval for a daily scheduled flight service between the two countries.

From December 1st to 15th, the airline will offer one return flight per day from the 1st to the 15 December 2009, and thereafter two return flights every day.

FlyMontserrat said it has also acquired two additional Islander aircraft, bringing its fleet to three. The new aircraft will arrive in time for the Christmas season and the airline said in a statement that if passenger numbers and flight frequency increase, a Twin Otter would be added to the fleet.

The airline will continue to offer its charter services to all islands in the surrounding Caribbean.

"FlyMontserrat acknowledges the support given by the Government of Montserrat and the Montserrat Tourist Board in the awarding of this contract. It also appreciates the donation of a stretcher kit supplied by the Government which has enabled FlyMontserrat to be kitted out for air ambulance flights," the statement said.

"Additionally, FlyMontserrat would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Montserrat for their continued support."

The airline said that since starting the charter service at the end of May there has been overwhelming enthusiasm for its presence on island.
