$45 million Deal Expected to Invigorate Economies of Bahamian Islands

NASSAU, The Bahamas, Thursday March 15, 2018
– Bahamian Government officials yesterday signed a Heads of Agreement with 4M Harbour Island Limited to develop the Harbour Island Marina into a world-class tourism facility.

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis says the project has already received the overwhelming support of the residents of Harbour Island.

“The residents are enthusiastically receptive to the development and eagerly await the potential economic benefits,” he said.

The $45 million Harbour Island Resort and Marina Development, scheduled to be completed in two and a half years, is expected to enhance the natural attributes of Harbour Island while invigorating and stimulating the economies of Harbour Island and the surrounding Eleuthera communities.

Secretary to the Cabinet, Camille Johnson, signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of The Bahamas while Michael Wiener signed on behalf of 4M Harbour Island Limited.

Prime Minister Minnis said the signing confirmed his government’s continuing commitment to accelerate the growth of the Bahamian economy and in so doing, “uplift the living standards of the people of The Bahamas, particularly those living in our Family Islands.”

“This is part of our desire to provide greater opportunities in the Family Islands. It will serve to encourage Family Islanders to remain on the islands of their birth, enjoy a sustainable future, and provide for the needs of their families,” he added.

Minnis said Wiener’s vision for the transformation and revitalization of the “vintage marina property,” would bring a unique appeal to the southwest coast of Harbour Island.

The Marina property will be redesigned into a world-class, state-of-the-art, luxury mega yacht-based resort community with a wide array of amenities consisting of a marina, clubhouse, restaurants, a retail and a resort residential community to include single and two-storey Town Homes with a total of 28 Guest Rooms, 10 Villas and a swimming pool.
