NASSAU, Bahamas, Thursday December 3, 2015 –The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in the Bahamas has won the award for Best Airport Website in North America and the Caribbean at a special recognition event hosted by Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA).

It’s the first Caribbean airport to do so.

The award was presented at ACI-NA’s inaugural Marketing and Communications Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, to the airport that produced an outstanding website from a design, communications, accessibility and navigation standpoint between August 2014 and August 2015.

Vice president of Marketing and Communications at LPIA, Jan Knowles, explained that LPIA needed to improve its online presence to ensure that it reflected our brand and to promote new amenities and services that are available to our passengers.

“We simplified navigation of the website to give passengers access to key airport information and created a responsive design to deliver a consistent experience across mobile devices, tablets and desktop computers. The new design truly captures the unique beauty and warmth of the Bahamas that is conveyed in the physical spaces of the airport,” Knowles said.

CEO of Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) Vernice Walkine said the accomplishment was the result of “the vision and hard work of our entire team who collaborated in so many ways to make this website as informative, passenger-friendly and aesthetically-pleasing as possible”.

ACI-NA represents governing bodies that own and operate over 150 commercial airports in the North America and the Caribbean and approximately 380 aviation-related businesses. Its mission is to advocate policies and provide services that strengthen the ability of commercial airports to serve their passengers, customers and communities.
