PORT-AU-PRINCE, July 29, 2007 – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will pay official visits to Haiti and Barbados this week.
The Secretary General who is presently in California on a trip aimed at spotlighting the issue of climate change, will visit Haiti Wednesday and Barbados on Thursday.
In Haiti he is scheduled to have talks with President René Préval senior parliamentarians, members of civil society, political parties, and the private sector as well as the Commission of Justice Reform.
During his 24-hour visit to Barbados late Thursday, he will have talks with Chairman of CARICOM, Prime Minister Owen Arthur of Barbados and other government officials and meet with the UN country team.
The reasons for his visits to Haiti and Barbados have not been revealed.
