St Kitts/Nevis considering renewable energy options

BASSATERRE, St Kitts and Nevis, August 30, 2007 – St Kitts and Nevis is examining feasible option for renewable energy.

The Denzil Douglas administration has received a report on the feasibility of the twin island republic using ethanol, biomass, and wind energy to reduce dependence on imported fuels.

The report was produced by the OAS and Professor Albert Binger of the University if the West Indies, Jamaica.

Minister of State for Information, Nigel Carty, said that key stakeholders were also consulted on the way forward. Those discussions, organised by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Public Utilities were held Tuesday.
