Western Union starts outbound service from Barbados

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, February 28, 2008 – The Western Union Company has teamed up with a Barbados bank to allow money transfers to go both ways for the first time.


Customers in Barbados were previously restricted to receiving money, but as a result of an agreement signed with Western Union, RBTT Bank Barbados Limited can now commence an outbound service.


“Adding Western Union Money Transfer service makes sense for us, as it allows us to bring more services and greater value to both our existing clients and potential new clients,” said RBTT Bank Barbados Limited President and CEO, Mr. John Beale. 


“As a Western Union Agent, we can provide consumers with the broadest possible reach when it comes to sending and receiving money to and from locations across the globe.” 


Regional vice president for the Western Union Caribbean Region, Tarcisio Bortoletto said he was confident that the bank “will deliver the high level of service quality along with the speed, convenience and reliability that consumers expect from Western Union.”


RBTT Bank will offer Western Union Money Transfer send and receive service at four of its locations across Barbados including Lower Broad, Bridgetown; Hastings Plaza, Hastings, Christ Church; Sunset Crest, St. James and Six Roads, St. Phillip.    


Western Union’s other agent, Barbados Shipping and Trading Company Limited will continue to offer the company’s receive service through its sub agent network of 13 locations.
