Bermuda Discontinues Tropical Storm Watch

Hardbeatnews, MIAMI, FL, Thurs. July 28, 2005: As Tropical Storm Franklin continued to hover in the Atlantic Ocean last night, officials at the Bermuda Weather Service discontinued a storm watch even as forecasters at the National Weather Service here claimed the storm will move away from the island.

Late last night Franklin was moving northward between the eastern United States and Bermuda with little change in strength. At 11 pm the center of Tropical Storm Franklin was located about 300 miles west-northwest of the British-dependent territory.

It was moving toward the north near 6 mph but a gradual turn toward the northeast at a faster forward speed is expected during the next 24 hours.

Maximum sustained winds were near 50 mph with higher gusts expected. –
