BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Thursday December 8, 2016 – What to wear to hang out with a Prince for a few days in front of the world’s media? It’s not a style dilemma which many of us will ever have to face, but should the occasion ever arise, we can now look to Rihanna for a masterclass.

Last week, when Prince Harry travelled to Barbados on his second-last stop of his tour of the Caribbean, he was joined by the Bajan star who managed to stay true to her personal style whilst also playing to the unspoken rules of the occasion.

When it came to spending a couple of days in the company of Harry, RiRi’s looks were all cleverly very much ‘her’ but with a more grown-up, polished feel than many of her usual ensembles.

Here’s a look at what she wore at events with the Prince:

1. Toast To The Nation

For Rihanna’s first meeting with Prince Harry – at the Toast To The Nation on Independence Day, November 30 – she turned to Matthew Adams Dolan, a Massachusetts-born young designer for an asymmetric chambray design with extra-long sleeves and a ruched waist which was appropriate but still had sufficient cool factor.

2. Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert

Later that evening, at the Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert at which she sat next to Prince Harry, Rihanna wore a fabulously maximalist flowing patterned dress with pleated skirt and balloon sleeves, by Marni – the Italian brand which makes the conceptual, wearable. She paired them with strappy black heels.

3. HIV Testing on World AIDS Day

The next day, when she and Prince Harry joined forces to mark World AIDS Day by taking HIV tests, Rihanna chose a cotton shirt and high-waisted, wide-legged trousers by French designer Jacquemus, that was suitably serious yet with no personal style sacrifice. (Adapted from the Telegraph)
