CALIFORNIA, United States, Friday November 29, 2013 – Jamaican songbird Tessanne Chin is one step closer to winning The Voice season five after advancing to the Top 6 on Tuesday’s live elimination show.
The 28-year-old singer did her country proud by injecting a dash of Jamaican spice on Monday night with a hot performance of “Underneath it All,” the No Doubt reggae hit track featuring Lady Saw.
Her outstanding cover of the song won her a standing ovation as well as a place in the next round of the NBC show, along with her Team Adam colleagues Will Chaplain and James P. Wolpert.
In a nail-biting finish, Tessanne was visibly nervous each time presenter Carson Daly announced the name of a contestant who the public had voted to advance to the final six.
She was obliged to sweat it out as Daly revealed the first artist to advance to next week, her teammate Will Champlin, followed, in order, by Team Blake’s Cole Vosbury and Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee.
With only five contestants left, it was revealed that Team Adam continued to dominate the show with Tessanne and James Wolpert also voted in.
Of the three artists in jeopardy – Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler, Team Blake’s Ray Boudreaux and Team CeeLo’s Caroline Pennell – only Matt was saved.
CeeLo found himself without a single artist in the game and Blake’s three-year winning streak seemed near its end with only one of his singers left.
The final few weeks promise to be intense, starting with the live top 6 performances on Monday and the live eliminations the following night. Click here to receive free news bulletins via email from Caribbean360. (View sample)
