HAMILTON, Bermuda, July 2, 2009 – A major international hotel brand, St Regis, will make its debut in Bermuda in Bermuda in another four years.

It said the new St Regis Bermuda hotel should open its doors in 2013 in the heart of the capital, Hamilton.

Premier Ewart Brown, who is also Minster of Tourism and Transport, said that the choice of Bermuda as a St Regis location endorsed his government’s commitment to “a platinum level tourism product”.

“The development team must get about the business of finalizing their financing package. However, I am convinced those objectives are achievable, and I look forward to a new spectacular hotel in the confines of Hamilton. It is our country’s most important commercial center for leisure and business travelers and soon it will have a stunning new hotel,” he said.

“The property will represent the high quality service and immaculate luxury St Regis is known for around the world, and I don’t hesitate to affirm that the St Regis reputation is right on target with the type of destination we are trying to create countrywide in Bermuda,” Brown added.

President of Global Development for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, owner of the St Regis brand, Simon Turner said the company was looking forward to working with its partners in Bermuda to debut the St Regis brand.

“Starwood continues to grow its footprint of best-in-class hotels and resorts around the world by working with the right partners on the right properties in the right places," he said.

St Regis Bermuda will feature approximately 140 guest rooms and suites; about 80 exclusive, serviced residences; a Remède Spa; two signature restaurants; a wine bar; library; and a rooftop conservatory.
