Montserrat expands marketing efforts to French Caribbean

BRADES, Montserrat, July 23, 2009 – The Montserrat Tourist Board (MTB) has expanded its marketing initiatives to include the neighbouring French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique.

With the assistance of Market One, the newly appointed French Caribbean representatives to the island, promotional materials are being translated into French.

“It is important for us to overcome the language barrier and reinforce ties with our Caribbean neighbors Guadeloupe and Martinique,” said Ernestine Cassell, director of tourism.

“With the addition of our new marketing tools we will be able to tap into their market and further promote Montserrat as the unique and beautiful island that it is.”

In addition to printing the eight-page Rediscover Montserrat brochure in French, the MTB has revamped the tourism website to include the ability to access the brochure as well as other destination information in French.

In addition, the MTB has worked with Vert Intense, a Guadeloupe-based nature tour operator, to offer visitors from the French islands an eco-adventure package on Montserrat.
