NASSAU, Bahamas, January 22, 2007 - A Bahamas High Court has issued an order to
regulate a minimum balance for the bank account of Anna Nicole Smith who is
facing a lawsuit for unpaid legal expenses stemming from the death of her son,
Daniel Wayne.
The Bahamian law firm Callenders & Co., which stopped representing her late last
year alleged in its affidavit that Smith "has a total aversion to paying her
bills and that she will seek to avoid paying the fees by any means that occur to
her, including by sending her money within this jurisdiction abroad."
Smith new attorney said that she was awaiting an itemised bill.
The Bahamas Supreme Court has issued an order forbidding Smith from reducing the
balance in her local bank accounts below $125,000.
Smith apparently owes Callenders $113,217. The firm was hired in September to
handle affairs surrounding her son's death. He died at her hospital bedside
three days after Anna Nicole gave birth to a daughter. Callenders dropped Smith
as a client in October for unpaid bills.
