Earthquake rattles BVI

ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands, Wednesday September 28, 2011 - A 4.6
magnitude earthquake rattled Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands (BVI)
Tuesday afternoon.
However, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network said it has not received any reports of
damage.
The epicenter was located near 18.76 north latitude and 64.34 west longitude, or
about 3 miles northwest from The Settlement Anegada at a depth of 41.9
kilometres.
The Department for Disaster Management (DDM) said the BVI is in a seismically
active zone, which makes the territory vulnerable to earthquakes, and it urged
residents to stay calm during a tremor.
“If you are inside stay there, move away from ceiling fans, glass windows and
doors or anything that may fall.  Get under a desk or sturdy piece of furniture
cover your head and hold on,” the DDM instructed.
“If outdoors, move into an open area away from trees, building, or utility
wires and poles.  During an earthquake the more you move the more likely you are
to be hurt, so refrain from entering or exiting a building at the time of the
