Caribbean360: Jamaican drag net sweeps up dozens for lottery scam Jamaican drag net sweeps up dozens for lottery scam ================================================================================ Chris Hoyos on 22/02/2012 15:49:00 KINGSTON, Jamaica, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 – Twenty-three males and seven females have been taken into custody in connection with lottery scamming activities, bribery and money laundering in the resort town of Montego Bay. The captures were the result of several operations by a multi-agency team coordinated and led by police personnel from Area One were conducted last weekend in the Rhyne Park and Rose Heights areas of Montego Bay. The 30 persons taken into custody are being processed and interviewed. Twelve motor vehicles, including several high-end luxury rides, cash and other items were seized during the operations. The vehicles seized include: One BMW X6, one Audi Q7, two Lexus SUVs, and two Skyline motor cars. The value of the 12 motor vehicles seized is estimated at just over JAM$50 million. Cash seized amounted to approximately JAM$1 million. A number of household items were also seized including several flat-screen televisions.
