Thompson and Manning to meet this week

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, February 18, 2008 - Barbados’ Prime Minister David Thompson will be making his first official overseas visit in that capacity since assuming office last month.

Thompson is visiting Port of Spain on Wednesday (February 20) at the invitation of his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, Patrick Manning, to discuss a number of issues of concern to both countries, including security, maritime issues and regional air transport.

The Prime Minister said he welcomed the opportunity to meet with Mr. Manning in view of the upcoming 19th Inter Sessional meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government and to discuss matters of mutual interest to Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago.

Thompson will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christopher Sinckler; CARICOM Ambassador-designate and the Chief Negotiator in the matter of the Barbados/Trinidad and Tobago Fishing Agreement and on regional maritime delimitation, Denis Kellman MP, and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Allan Jones.
