CARICOM, CDB on regional insurance facility board
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, April 9, 2008 – The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) now have representatives on the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) which was designed to provide financial assistance to member countries affected by natural disasters.
CARICOM's interest will be represented by Isaac Anthony while Dr Warren Smith will serve on behalf of the CDB. The two were appointed on Monday.
"As a Caribbean facility the CCRIF was created to serve the natural catastrophe insurance interests of Caribbean governments and the people they represent. The approval of these two appointments is another step in the fulfilment of that objective," said Chairman of the CCRIF Board of Directors Milo Pearson.
