Grenada Cabinet reshuffle in the works
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, June 26, 2009 – As the one-year anniversary of his administration draws close, Grenada’s Prime Minister Tillman Thomas is preparing to make some changes to his Cabinet.
Thomas, whose National Democratic Congress (NDC) was swept to power in the July 8th, 2008 general elections, says he will reshuffle his ministers within the next month.
“It is a normal thing to reshuffle a Cabinet and we are thinking of doing that not too long from now,” he said.
“We have to look at how we can manage the country more efficiently. After one year we must see areas where we have weaknesses and strengths and make the necessary adjustments so that the country will be adequately represented and managed.”
The confirmation came in New York where Thomas is attending the United Nations Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its impact on Development, as speculation mounted back home that Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Peter David would be affected by rumoured changes to the Cabinet.
The Grenadian leader did not speak to the specifics of his planned reshuffle, but he said an announcement will be made when the time is right.
