BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Wednesday March 7, 2012 – Lauded across the Caribbean diaspora for her signing and stage prowess, Barbadian entertainer Alison Hinds will this weekend turn her energies to a cause dear to her heart – the empowerment of her fellow females.

The Alison Hinds Wonderland Foundation is scheduled to be launched this Saturday, March 10, in Barbados at the “Ordinary Women Extraordinary Lives” seminar being put on by Future Quest Services Public Relations and Marketing, CaribVoiceRadio in conjunction with Bajansunoline.com and Icon Media Studios Barbados in honour of International Women’s Day.

The mission of the Foundation has been identified as: “to serve as a catalyst for transformational human development and community change by supporting programs and services that improve the quality of life for girls, women, and families worldwide”.

And while the Foundation will have its roots in the Caribbean, the vision of veteran entertainer is that the initiative will be used to advocate for families and communities globally ensuring equal access to opportunities and quality of life resources.

The focal areas identified are: Personal and Leadership Development for Girls and Women; Entrepreneurship for Girls and Women; Education and Career Development for Girls and Women; Health and Wellness Issues; Financial Literacy for Girls and Women; Eradication of Domestic Violence; Family Strengthening.

Using her talents and experience, Hinds and her supporters intend to spread the message about the Foundation and its focus through special events, topical programmes, benefit concerts, commemorative events, presentations, strategic partnering with global human development organizations, and publishing, special edition Wonderland Music.

The other major initiatives expected to come out of this weekend’s seminar are: the establishment of an international annual summit to highlight the extraordinary lives of ordinary women; the acceleration of the process of empowering more women to take control of their lives to better equip them to uplift other women; the launch the Circle of Experience – a forum for highlighting the successes/work of ordinary women and men which makes a difference in the lives of women; and the establishment of an international activities consortium of women who assist each other in “Moving from the Backroom to the Boardroom” to establish and grow their vision throughout the year.

Organisers state that the goal of the seminar is to provide information and promote action on the issues now faced by women in today’s changing environment. However, they added that the target audience is not intended to be exclusively women as males are also invited to participate. Click here to receive free news bulletins via email from Caribbean360.
