New patrol vessels for Guyana by 2013

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Wednesday February 29, 2012 – By next year, Guyana will have riverain patrol vessels among its fleet to boost its maritime capabilities by 2013.

These vessels are being provided by the United States government under the Caribbean Basin Initiative Commission.

US Ambassador, Brendt Hardt said it was one of the main areas of support on the bilateral agenda. He added that the US was working closely with partner states to implement initiatives such as the Cooperative Sensor and Information Integration programme, and providing technical assistance with regards to justice sector reforms for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States countries.
