Haitian gang leader and lieutenant captured

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, Friday November 11, 2011 - Haitian police said they have captured two members of a powerful gang believed to be involved in the deaths of several police officers.

Gang leader Joseph Arnel and Chavannes, one of his lieutenants, were arrested in Bizoton, an area to the south of the capital.

Inspector Joseph Dupont in charge of a Port-au-Prince police station said Joseph’s gang, which operates in the village of God, has been involved in the murder of several police officers.

Earlier in the day, a detective who was assigned to the Central Directorate of Judicial Police was killed at his home.
