TV host arrested for airing tape of rape victim

Journalist to appear in court today to answer charges under the Sexual Offences Act.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Friday April 20, 2012 – Trinidad’s TV6 Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne has been arrested by police last night.

It is understood that his arrest is for questioning in relations to a criminal matter in which the rape of a minor was aired on the Crime Watch programme in October last year. Reports indicate that Alleyne could face charges under the Sexual Offences Act which prohibits the media from identifying victims of sexual assaults.

Alleyne is expected to appear in court later today.
