Rihanna topless, tattooed and ‘Unapologetic’ on new album cover
NEW YORK, USA, Friday October 26, 2012 – Barbadian pop princess Rihanna is short of a few clothes again, this time totally topless on the cover of her upcoming "Unapologetic" album, which is due to be released November 19 worldwide and marks her seventh album in as many years.
The album cover shows Rihanna wearing dark plum lipstick and very little else. One arm partially covers her left breast, while the right is obscured by black ink bearing the word “Unapologetic”.
"Diamonds," "Chalice," "Fearless," “Faith,” “Happy,” “Censored” and “Fun” are just some of the many words, along with symbols, scrawled across her body. The word “Love” is plastered boldly across her face.
Her recently inked tattoo, the Egyptian moon goddess Isis with outspread wings, is prominent on her chest and is said to be a tribute to her late grandmother who died earlier this year.
The star’s first single from the album, "Diamonds", was recently released and has already hit No. 1 in many countries and garnered critical as well as popular acclaim.
“It gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it,” she said about the track. “The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love, and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I’m excited to surprise them sonically.”
Rihanna has released her last three albums in successive Novembers: "Rated R" in 2009, "Loud" in 2010 and "Talk That Talk" last year, so it was expected that the latest – until recently coyly referred to as “R7” by the Def Jam label – would debut in November as well.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old singer is sitting on top of the world in the American Music Awards nominations with four nods pitting her against Justin Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5 and Katy Perry for Artist of the Year. She is also nominated for Favorite Female Artist - Pop/Rock, Favorite Female Artist - Soul/R&B, and Favorite Album - Soul/R&B for "Talk That Talk."
