Bahamas Defence Force Makes Million-Dollar Drug Bust

The drugs seized by the Bahamas Defence Force.


NASSAU, The Bahamas, Wednesday May 17, 2017 – The Royal Bahamas Defence Force have seized just over $1 million worth of marijuana and arrested two locals and a Jamaican.

A Defence Force vessel, while on routine patrol in the south western Bahamas in the area of Cay Lobos, intercepted a 28-foot go-fast vessel.

When it was searched, just over 1,000 pounds of the contraband found on board.

The three men on the boat – two Bahamians and a Jamaican – were also apprehended and handed over to officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Drug Enforcement Unit.

“This arrest has been a result of the consistent efforts of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and their strategic intent to rid the waters of the Bahamas of illicit transnational activities that threaten and security of The Bahamas,” the Defence Force said in the statement.
