Weather system in the Caribbean becomes better organised
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Friday June 22, 2012 - The National Hurricane Center is reporting that
“environmental conditions remain conducive for a tropical depression to form in the Gulf of Mexico in the next 24 hours.”
The latest report from the National Hurricane Center indicates that “the system has a high chance...80 percent...of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours”.
“Heavy rains and localized flooding are possible across the Yucatan peninsula, western Cuba and southern Florida through Saturday” the National Hurricane Center report said.
Last month Philip J. Klotzbach and William M. Gray of the Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University slightly increased their forecast for the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season. The season is expected to see about 13 named storms, including 5 hurricanes, with two of them being major during the 2012 hurricane season.
