Tropical wave in Atlantic forecast to become a depression overnight

image National Hurricane Center reports that conditions in the Atlantic indicate the system has a 60% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in 48 hours.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Sunday August 19, 2012 -  Similar to the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean temperatures, the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season continues to heat up with Helene, Gordon and tropical wave in the mid-Atlantic.

The tropical wave is located 800 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. Location 14.4N 36.4W. Winds 30 miles per hour. Moving west northwest at 18 miles per hour accoring to the latest report from the hurricane center in Miami.

The estimated minimum central pressure for the system has dropped to 1011 mb.

According to Philip J. Klotzbach and William M. Gray of the Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University, the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season is expected to see about 13 named storms, including 5 hurricanes, with two of them being major.
