Barbadian Cabinet minister seriously ill

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Friday December 31, 2010 – Minister of Environment, Water Resources and Drainage Denis Lowe, who has been ailing for several weeks, is now in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the country’s hospital.

He was admitted after being rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday afternoon, the Nation newspaper reported today.

There has been no official word about the exact nature of his illness, but the newspaper quoted a source as saying it was a respiratory problem.

It was also reported that Lowe has been working from home ever since he fell ill a day after the November 22 Budget presentation but he has also attended a few meetings at his office.
