Barbados issues all clear as Chantal moves into the Caribbean Sea

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Tuesday July 9, 2013 – The Government of Barbados has issued the all clear as local meteorological officials discontinued all advisories following the close passage of Tropical Storm Chantal.

Around 11:30 a.m. (local time), Attorney General Adrian Brathwaite issued the all clear.

“We are giving the all clear with the provision of course that you see in your own backyard that there is still some rain about. We expect it will clear up this afternoon, so we are just asking residents to be cautions,” Brathwaite said.

Acting Head of the Barbados Meteorological Service, Hampden Lovell,however appealed to citizens to continue to exercise caution as t hey resume normal duties.

“Radar and satellite images suggest that pockets of moderate to heavy showers and occasional gusty winds will continue to affect the island with a gradual improvement as the day progresses.”

Braithwaite also responded to reports that some employers had been calling out workers even before the all clear was given.
