Tropical wave forms in the Western Atlantic

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Wednesday July 9, 2011 – A large tropical wave accompanied by a well-defined low pressure system continues to show signs of organisation and the latest report from the National Hurricane Centre places the system about 1200 miles east-southeast of the Lesser Antilles the National Hurricane Center said.

“Environmental conditions are conducive for gradual development over the next few days” as it moves west or west-northwestward at 15-20 miles per hour”, the National Hurricane Centre said this morning in an advisory at 8:00 a.m. Barbados time.

Elsewhere Tropical Storm Don continues to move west-northwest near 14MPH with maximum sustained winds near 50MPH. At 4am CDT the centre of Don was located near latitude 25.3N and longitude  93.6W. Click here to receive free news bulletins via email from Caribbean360. (View sample)
