Caribbean nationals vying for Miss World 2006

NEW YORK, USA, August 25, 2006 – Several Caribbean nationals will be vying for the title of Miss World 2006, as the celebrated pageant gets underway in the Central European nation of Poland next month.

Contestants from the Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados are among 13 Caribbean beauties participating in the pageant.

Representing the Bahamas is 24-year-old sales representative, Deandrea Conliffe while the Dominican Republic’s ‘ambassador’ is Paola Torres Cohen, 21. From Martinique comes sexy 19-year-old Stephanie Florence Colosse while Guadeloupe’s representative is Caroline Virgile Bevis, 21.

Thebyam Carrion Alvarez, 23, is making her bid for Puerto Rico while Tamalisa Jn.Baptiste is seeking the title for St. Lucia. From Trinidad, fans will see the stunning Teneke De Freitas, a 23-year-old certified accountant while representing Guyana is 24-year-old student, Dessia Braithwaite. The Cayman Islands Ambuyah Ruth Ebanks is going for the title as is Barbados’ Latoya Tamara Mcdowald. Rounding out the Caribbean contingent is Aruba’s Shanandoa Arnaldi Wijshiser, Curacao’s Fyrena Judica Hannah Martha and Jamaica’s Sara Lawrence.

The annual pageant is set for Warsaw, Poland on September 30th and will feature more than 100 contestants.
