FLORIDA, United States, Thursday June 27, 2013 – Grammy Award-winning Jamaican recording artist Damian “Junior Gong” Marley and Norwegian Cruise Line will reportedly launch the inaugural Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise in October next year.
Reports indicate that the Norwegian Pearl will set sail from Miami on a five-night musical voyage to Montego Bay and is also scheduled to drop anchor in Ocho Rios.
The trailblazing cruise is predicted to rock the boat with performances by leading Jamaican reggae and dancehall acts and deejays.
“Junior Gong”, youngest son of the legendary Bob “Tough Gong” Marley, is also slated to deliver the performance goods aboard the Pearl along with other top international recording stars.
In between the live concerts, a variety of sound systems and DJs will reportedly keep the musical action jammin as part of a total Jamaican package from food and beverages to films.
Damian Robert Nesta “Junior Gong” Marley, 34, is a three-time Grammy Award winning reggae artist who has been performing since the age of 13 and has collaborated with top acts including Gwen Stefani, Nas, Skrillex and Bruno Mars.
At the 2009 Grammy Awards, he won Best Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Welcome to Jamrock, making him the only Jamaican reggae artist in history to win two Grammy Awards on the same night.
The album sold 86,000 copies in its first week of release, and was eventually certified gold after selling 500,000 copies in the United States.
Notable singles from the album include “The Master Has Come Back”, “Road to Zion” featuring Nas, and “Khaki Suit” featuring Bounty Killer and Eek-A-Mouse. Click here to receive free news bulletins via email from Caribbean360. (View sample)
