Dominica gets extra LIAT service as night flights resume at Douglas-Charles airport

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, Tuesday December 22, 2015 – With the Douglas-Charles Airport restored to full operational capability following massive damage by Tropical Storm Erika in August, regional airline LIAT is adding another flight to its Dominica itinerary.

The Antigua-based carrier has announced that it will operate an additional daily flight between St. John’s and Roseau starting tomorrow.

The evening service will be available through to the New Year.

“We are delighted to be able to add an evening departure from Antigua to Dominica now,” Chief Executive Officer David Evans said.

“We applaud the untiring efforts of the Government and people of Dominica to rebuild their beautiful nature island after the ravages of Tropical Storm Erika. We are aware that this time of year is of utmost importance to our customers and so we are happy to assist in bringing visitors, friends and families together for the holidays.”

Following the damage done by the storm, government installed solar lights at the airport. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said going that route fit in with his government’s renewable energy push.
