ufoONTARIO, Canada, Thursday April 30, 2015 – Against the backdrop of several recently reported UFO sightings worldwide, a former Canadian defence minister has accused world leaders of concealing the evidence of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) and the presence of aliens on earth.

Conspiracy theorist Paul Hellyer, who served in the Canada government during the sixties, is leading a touring seminar calling on governments across the globe to release all the UFO data they have on record, Canadian news network CTV reported.

Delivering the keynote speech during the Disclosure Canada Tour at the University of Calgary, Hellyer told a 400-strong crowd that “much of the media won’t touch it.

“So you just have to keep working away and hope that someday you get a critical mass, and they will say, in one way or another, ‘Mr. President or Mr. Prime Minister we want the truth and we want it now because it affects our lives,’” he continued.

Over the course of the tour, Hellyer and other speakers have appeared in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in events organised by a group known as Modern Knowledge.

Modern Knowledge describes itself as a “grassroots platform that assists in creating awareness about important and though provoking subject matter that is not normally discussed in the mainstream.”

On its website, it goes on to explain that the group uses a blend of “ancient wisdom” and “modern scientific knowledge” to explain and discuss “cutting edge, and sometimes controversial information.”

Hellyer first spoke out about his belief that governments are concealing an alien presence 10 years ago, when he said that UFOs are as prevalent in our skies as conventional aircraft.

According to the ageing former civil servant, there are 80 different species of extra-terrestrials, but sceptics have labelled him deluded.

Speaking to Russian television last year, he said some of them “look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn’t know if you walked past one.”

Hellyer is part of an increasing number of ex-officials, including former NASA employees, military officers, or scientists, coming forward to claim cover-ups by governments.

His latest assertions come in the wake of a series of recently reported UFO sightings worldwide.

These include a “glowing disc” purportedly filmed by several people from different angles over Tijuana in Mexico.

A “shape-changing figure-of-eight UFO” snapped earlier this month by Richard Emblin, editor of Bogota’s The City Paper, and subsequently published on its website.

Another “glowing UFO,” filmed by several people in Bakersfield, California, this month and posted on Facebook and to local news channels. Reports of “mysterious blue lights” over the same area also made the TV news in February and March.

Late last month, residents in the southern Russian city of Stavropol captured images of a noiseless, blinding light sweeping across the night sky before disappearing.

The Moscow Times speculated that it was connected to either the Northern Lights, military action, a solar eclipse, a cloud-measuring device, or aliens.
