Gruesome double-murder shocks Trinidad

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, January 31, 2007 – The crime rate in the oil rich twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago jumped to a whopping 24 yesterday with the horrific murder of an elderly couple in the community of Cascade.

Former Neal and Massy manager, Clyde Commissiong, 80, along with his 79-year-old wife Denise, were found bludgeoned to death. Police last night cited robbery as the motive for the horrific killing, saying the house was ransacked and a money vault and several pieces of jewelry were missing.

The couple’s young grandchildren were, however, spared and were found by their mother, Simone, creeping in a pool of blood. The Commissiong’s had apparently been babysitting Jaylon and Jania.

Simone also reportedly found her parents wounded and bleeding. Her mother was declared dead at the scene but Mr. Commissiong was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he later died.

The killers remained on the lam as family members grapple to deal with the reality of the gory killing. (Copyright
