Guyana: Slain Security Guard In Sawh Killing Laid To Rest

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Apr. 28, 2006 – The 37-year-old security guard, who was gunned down on April 22 along with Guyana agriculture minister Satyadeow Sawh, was laid to rest yesterday afternoon at the at Le Repentir Cemetery in Georgetown.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Hydar Ally; Sawh’s son, Roger Sawh and General Secretary of the Guyana Rice Producers Association, Dharamkumar Seeraj, was among those who joined mourners to bid final farewell to Curtis Robertson.

Robinson is survived by his reputed wife Rehanna Haywood and seven sons. The unarmed guard was assassinated along with Sawh, his brother Rajpat Rai Sawh and sister Pulmattie Persaud, by heavily-armed masked men in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The killers of the four remain on the lam. Minister Sawh’s remains were cremated on April 25. (
