Jamaica: More Than A Dozen Prisoners Escape

Hardbeatnews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Mon. Feb. 27, 2006: Some fifteen prisoners awaiting trial for murder and robbery managed to escape their jail cells at a Trelawny police station early Sunday morning.

Police say the inmates managed to pry apart some bars on the cells they were in before making their escape from the Clarks Town police station around 5 a.m. yesterday.

Yesterday, police kept up a search for the escapees and late yesterday reported they had recaptured one.

The jailbreak comes on a day where cops also made the gruesome discovery of five dead bodies in Morant Bay, St. Thomas. Police say the five – a mother, her two children, a cousin and an as yet unidentified fifth woman, were found by a relative around 7 a.m. yesterday. Their throats were slashed. – Hardbeatnews.com
