Kamla “shocked” at death of talk show host following early morning fire

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Sunday January 25, 2015, CMC – Marcia Henville, a television talk show host, died early Saturday after a fire gutted her bedroom her home in St. Augustine, east of here.

Fire officials confirmed that the charred remains of the host of the programme “Point Blank”, aired on CCN TV 6, was found after the fire had been extinguished. Her husband escaped with severe burns to his body.

Henville was born and raised in Notting Hill in West London. Her Facebook page notes “my parents are Trinidadian. That makes me English, however, I have dual citizenship”.

She worked at various media houses here before hosting her own show “Point Blank” that tends to showcase life of people in depressed areas in Trinidad and Tobago.

The police said investigations into the fire are continuing and that a realtive is assiting with the probe.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar said she was “shocked and saddened to learn of the death” adding that Henville “was known for her fearless pursuit of the truth and the nation has lost a talented and dedicated journalist”. “my thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones,” she added.
