Madonna eyes a Cayman Islands Christmas

LONDON, England, November 29, 2006 – The Queen of Pop, Madonna, wants a tropical Christmas, away from cold Britain, and is reportedly eyeing the Cayman Islands for a week long family vacation.

Madonna, 48, was originally set to holiday with husband, Guy Ritchie, kids Lourdes and Rocco, and newly adopted African-born son, 14-month-old baby David Banda, in the Maldives.

But after a hotel demanded £250,000 for a week there, the ‘Material Girl,’ reportedly switched plans to either the Cayman Islands or Seychelles, according to the UK’s ‘The People’ newspaper.

Madonna stirred controversy, creating a strom of international headlines over the adoption of the Malawian child. Yesterday, a judge there delayed a ruling on whether rights groups could challenge the singer’s bid to adopt the baby, whose mother died shortly after giving birth to him. Madonna and Richie have been granted an 18-month interim custody. (
