Murder suspects may have fled to Jamaica

TORONTO, Canada, June 29, 2007 – Two suspects in the murder of a Toronto national may have fled to Jamaica and are being sought, Toronto police said this week.

Police identified the two suspects in the murder of Jose Jierro Saez as Anthony Grant, 21, of Brampton, and Devon Vivian, 20, of Toronto. Both are charged with first degree murder and four counts of attempted murder.

Detective Sgt. Gary Grinton, of the Homicide Squad, said the two suspects fled to Jamaica shortly after the shooting. He confirmed that Mr. Grant has family in Jamaica.

Saez was shot dead on June 9 while driving on John Garland Blvd., west of Kipling Avenue. The three other passengers in his car were also shot, but did not suffer fatal wounds.

Police were able to identify the suspects after anonymous and known sources came forward.

“I would like to thank people of the communities who have come forward to assist in solving a heinous homicide,” Grinton said. (
