Police Officer in Jamaica Charged with Murder

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Tuesday April 2, 2019 – A police officer has been charged in connection to the death of a man whose burnt remains were discovered nine months ago.

Junior Hayles, a 30-year-old police constable assigned to the Kingston East Division, is accused of killing 33-year-old Vince Walcott.

And a beauty therapist, 34-year-old Nicola Montaque, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

A date for their court appearance is yet to be announced.

Walcott’s burnt body was discovered on July 21, 2018 when fire officials were summoned to extinguish tyres burning behind a church on Rousseau Road, Kingston 5.

A postmortem found that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
