Promise of world class sailing event for Grenada

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, September 26, 2007 – Port Louis Grenada Sailing Festival has been officially launched.


More than 200 people participated in the biggest pre event celebration “in the history of the sailing festival”, organisers said.


Port Louis Grenada has committed to sponsoring the sailing festival for the next three years.


During this time Port Louis and the festival organizers will be marketing the festival globally and is expected to put Grenada on the international map for yachting and sailing regattas.


The view of the Careenage in the downtown historic capital, St George’s, provided the backdrop for the launch  which was attended by Minister of Works Brenda Hood, Minister of Private Sector Development Einstein Louison, sailing festival chairman Jimmy Bristol and his team and chairman and founder of Savvy Grenada Peter de Savary.


De Savary promised to make this festival one of the best in the world.


The Port Louis Grenada Sailing Festival will be held January 25 – 29, 2008 and will feature races in workboat and keelboat categories as well as kayak races and junior races.
