BASSETERRE, St Kitts, February 1, 2010 – It will be another week before the new-look Cabinet in St Kitts and Nevis is unveiled.
Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas, whose St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) won last Monday’s general elections, will officially announce the allocation of ministerial portfolios on Sunday, February 7th at a swearing-in ceremony at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.
A government statement said Prime Minister Douglas, who was sworn in two days after his party’s election victory, had been hard at work over the past few days structuring the new government.
He said he was keen to get the country settled and refocused on the issues of nation building.
The SKNLP won six of the eight St Kitts seats, securing a historic fourth consecutive term for Dr Denzil Douglas in the January 25th poll. The People’s Action Movement (PAM) won the other two seats. The Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) took two of the three seats on Nevis, with the other going to the Nevis Reformation Party.
However, PAM has indicated it will be challenging the election results.
