ST. LUCIA: British national body found off cliff

CASTRIES, St. Lucia, August 30, 2006 – Dental records have been used to confirm that the battered body found at the bottom of a cliff in St. Lucia last Thursday was that of missing British émigré, Patricia Ann Lee.

An autopsy further found that the 61-year-old had been slain and did not commit suicide. St. Lucian police continue to investigate the case but so far no arrests have been made.

Lee, a resident of St. Lucia for more than a decade, went missing on August 10th and the search has been on to locate her. The cliff where the body was found is about two miles from the Cap Estate home of Lee, around 20 miles north of the capital Castries. Police claimed the area was searched following a tip-off. The retired registrar had apparently moved with her late boyfriend Bernard Haddican to the island. Haddican died three years ago.

Last year there were 37 murders on St Lucia while so far this year there has been 25.
