CASTRIES, St. Lucia, Tuesday February 24, 2015, CMC – Rescue teams have recovered the body of one of two brothers who were swept away by strong waves off the coast of La Toc on the outskirts of the capital on Monday.

Police said that the body of Mervin Darcie, 31, had been recovered and the search is continuing for his 30-year-old brother, Kervin.

A third person, Kendel Charles, identified as a cousin of the brothers, was rescued on Monday, a public holiday here, as the island celebrated its 36th anniversary of political independence from Britain..

Reports posted on the social media, including Facebook, said that the three men were sitting on the shore when a strong wave took them out to sea.

The incident comes one day after four-year-old Torrel Joshua Elibox, of Augier, south of here, has been reported missing at sea since Sunday.
