State witness killed in Trinidad after leaving safe house

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, March 30, 2009 – Police are investigating the killing of a State witness in Trinidad, after she left a safe house in the sister isle, Tobago, to go partying.

Alicia Kizzy McKenzie, who was the main witness in the March 13th shooting death of Jason Fullerton, was snatched as she was leaving a club in San Fernando on Saturday. Her body was later found in a dirt tract with several gunshot wounds.

The 29-year-old mother of three had been placed under police protection after Fullerton’s murder. She had been staying at a safe house Tobago but boarded a flight on Saturday night to go to the party.

Police suspect she may have been lured away from the house and to her death.

McKenzie’s death brings to 127 the number of people killed in Trinidad and Tobago so far this year.
