LONDON, England, July 30, 2007 – She fended off a 10-week storm by many popular singers with her faithful ‘Umbrella’ but the ‘rain’ finally stopped Sunday night, the British Singles Chart has ended the UK Official Charts Company revealed Sunday night.
Her hit single ‘Umbrella’ rode at the # 1 position for 10 weeks making it the longest-running number one single since Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around dominated the charts in 1994 but not long enough to beat the all time record of 16 weeks by Bryan Adams in 1991, with his hit single, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”.
Rihanna was bumped all the way to the # 3 position. Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’ took the top spot and Kate Nash’s took the # 2 spot. On the Downloads Chart, Rihanna eased up a notch to # 10.
Across the Atlantic on the Billboards Singles Chart, Rihanna slipped one notch to the #3 position. Plain White T’s ‘Hey There Delilah’ maintains the #1 position while Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ moved from #3 to #2.
