Trini National Killed In Texas Crash

Hardbeatnews, NEW YORK, N.Y., Fri. Sept. 30, 2005: Relatives of a Trinidadian-woman are preparing to fly her body home for burial after she and her American-born husband were fatally killed in a car accident in Vernon, Texas last week.

Annie Yarrad-McLenna, 31, formerly of Carapichaima, Trinidad, according to the Express Newspaper, was killed after her husband’s 2003 GMC pickup slammed into the rear of an 18-wheel trailer carrying cattle.

Rescue workers from the Vernon Fire/Emergency Management Systems and Electra Volunteer Fire/EMS used the Jaws of Life to free both Yarrad-McLenna and her husband Lane McLenna, according to the Times record Newspaper.

Yarrad-McLenna was pronounced dead on arrival at Electra Memorial Hospital while her husband died about an hour later.

Speedwake forum, a boating site which Lane apparently frequented, claimed the late engineer had daily posted pictures and reports on the progress of his boat, “Warcat.”

The two were reportedly returning from Colorado to Texas to secure their boat before Hurricane Rita struck, the Express reported.

The couple were married in March. Yarrad-McLenna will be buried in Trinidad next Thursday. –
