Trinidad police hunt for killers of three members of a family

trinidad-police-740PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Sunday December 14, 2014, CMC – Trinidad police are searching for the killers of three members of a family who were shot execution style on Friday night in Valencia, south of Port-of-Spain.

Police said that the bodies of Eric Reyes, 33, his common-law-wife Tamika Bathemelow, 23 were found in their home after a relative informed them of having heard gunshots around 9.30 pm (local time). They were both shot in the head.

The police said the body of another family member, 29-year-old Keron Reyes, was also found and he too had a bullet wound to the back of the head.

According to reports in the Trinidad Express newspaper, “Sangre Grande CID detectives said around 9 p.m. a group of men walked into the house located opposite an area known as “Ma Jack Hill” and found Eric “Rampell” Ruiz, 33, his cousin, Keron Ruiz, 29, and Eric Ruiz’s girlfriend, Teneka Bartholomew, 23.”

A recent Trinidad Guardian article, reports that the killings “were as a result of a robbery gone awry, police said the executions stemmed from the sale of state lands that might have gone sour.”

So far this year, 393 people have been murdered in Trinidad and Tobago compared with 369 for the same period in 2013.
